Yes, they were fantastic until that last scene with the three Spartans and Sgt.Forge. The way those three Spartans massacred all those Elites, and the Arbiter, was quite ridiculous. They made the Elites look like fools and gave them useless weapons. That was very disappointing but hardly unexpected ...
I could be wrong but I dont think there was a whole lot of confrontation prior to this between the elites and spartans was there? you could sum up the victory for the spartans then on lack of experience dealing with them for elites. The arbiter on the other hand I dont think should have lost so easy. true, I didnt like how brutish this arbiter was with a seeming lack for honor, but against a marine? doubtful anything less than a spartan could harm him.
if nothing else, the thought behind having such a show of one sided fighting is only to make all the "good guys always win" and "get off my planet alien!" brain washed people happy. personally I want struggle and death with no clear victor till the last second. thats what Halo is for me. this is why the series needs Reach.
That's a good point actually, I didn't really think of that. Ripa was powerful but seemed to have strayed a bit from the path of the average Elite. He seemed quite megalomaniacal. Then perhaps that was the very reason the Prophets chose him to be the Arbiter?
Yes, of course they couldn't have the Elites win, but they could have made them look good and fight harder/more honourably. And having one of the Spartans die during the struggle might not have been a entirely bad thing; we know that most were lost and showing one of they dying might have added extra drama and emotion to that final scene. Of course, we did lose Forge and possibly the rest of the crew, but still ...
I would bet money on atleast one of them getting killed. if not for the very epic thought that it brings to any story seeing a hero cut down, I think it would give you a second wind during the campaign where you just get mad and need to avenge your fallen friend. like I said before, weve been fighting a very long time to just "get them off my planet!", I would like a refreshing new reason to kick some ass. and thats what reach should bring, refreshing new ways to get that good ol' feeling Halo as a series gave us back where it all started.
thanks everyone. honestly this is just like anything else ive made recently. incredibly surprising. somewhere along the lines I picked up a lot of skill in areas I didnt have any at all haha. Best not to question it though and just roll with it
